In Thrive’s first year, we expanded the global plant-based food systems movement in 1 out of every 3 of the world’s countries.
In Year 1, Thrive’s majority-women, BIPOC, global team:
- Granted 1 out of every 3 countries in the world 
- Distributed 94 grants to 60 countries & 6 continents 
- Moved $1.7M in grantmaking to end factory farming 
- Partnered to offer 2 strategic planning courses to 16 grantees from 16 countries 
- Jumpstarted the plant-based food systems movement in 30% of African countries 
- Held multiple grantee coaching sessions to support strategy & growth 
- Coached 148 Thrive Africa Accelerator members in campaign strategy 
- Strengthened Africa-based women-identified advocates through our inaugural Africa Vegan Women’s Initiative 
- Launched the world’s first Africa Vegan Restaurant Week and Africa School Lunch Campaign, joint Africa-wide campaigns with nearly 50 registered participants from 16 African countries, increasing nutritious plant-based food access to tens of thousands of people 
- 2 staff members were recipients of the Rockwood Equity in Philanthropy Leadership Fellowship 
- Launched Donor Services to facilitate international giving 
- And more. 
And all using a Trust-Based Philanthropy, equity-centered grantmaking approach.
