Hannah Murray has spent two decades in the environmental movement and written professionally on sustainable agriculture, forestry, water resources, Indigenous rights, and animal protection. She manages proposals and reports at Root Capital, a global organization that invests in sustainable agriculture to build a more prosperous, inclusive, and resilient future for rural communities. Hannah has extensive experience in grants management and as a liaison between grassroots activists and funders. From 2019 to 2022, she managed an international grants program that supported organizations advocating for farmed animal welfare. She is an Advisory Board member for the Spanish non-profit Equalia and provides support to global animal activists involved in strategic planning through For the Greater Good. Hannah holds a Master of Forestry degree from Yale and a bachelor’s degree in African American Studies from Harvard. She is a graduate of the Natural Gourmet Institute’s plant-based culinary program in New York City, after which she opened and ran a vegan food company in Chilean Patagonia for several years.
